A valid full driving license appropriate for the vehicle category, held for the minimum period outlined in the Rental Agreement, is required. Renters must also present valid identification and proof of current address. Payment information and a security deposit are necessary, along with any other conditions stated in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payment Options
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or at our Portishead office. A booking deposit may be necessary to confirm your reservation. Full payment and a security deposit are usually required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
4. Collecting and Returning Vehicles
- At the time of vehicle collection in Portishead, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damages immediately. A vehicle condition report will be generated and signed by both parties. Upon return, the vehicle should be in the same condition as it was when picked up, considering normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. Please return the vehicle with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will apply if the tank is less than full. Late returns may result in extra charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You will be accountable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless additional insurance is in place. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise details, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional fees.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of Your Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or similar risky pursuits is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes, and passenger or weight limits must not be exceeded. Driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries without prior authorization is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Portishead will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.

These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be addressed exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
