Rental Terms

All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In cases of discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

Eligibility Criteria

Renting a vehicle requires:

  • To hire a vehicle in Portishead, you must be at least 21 years old; note that age restrictions can vary based on the vehicle type, and additional fees may apply for drivers under 25. A valid driving licence that corresponds to the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. Payment information and a security deposit must be provided. Any further requirements will be outlined in the Rental Agreement.

Booking and Payment Options

  • Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Portishead location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are usually payable upon collecting your vehicle. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.

Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off

  • At the time of collection, you are required to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties. It is important to return the vehicle in the same condition in which it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as when collected; refueling fees will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may result in additional charges, so please inform us promptly if you expect to return the vehicle late. You are responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with an administration fee.

Insurance and Responsibility

  • All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. The Rental Agreement outlines full coverage details and excess amounts. You may explore additional insurance options to limit your financial liability. It's beneficial to review these options thoroughly. You are liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless further insurance is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violations of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.

6. Modifications and Cancellations

Cancellation and amendment policies are subject to the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.

7. Restricted Activities

Prohibited Use of Vehicle

  • The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities or purposes. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any activities that pose a risk to safety. It is prohibited to transport hazardous materials or to rent the vehicle to others. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used within its intended design specifications, adhering to passenger and weight limits. Additionally, driving outside of the designated geographical area requires prior approval.

Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.

Liability Restrictions

To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Portishead is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This does not affect our liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.

9. Local Legal Framework

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in this region.

10. Terms Updates

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately once posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
